Editorial Review:
Amazon.com Product Description: Reduce your water consumption while also determining the rainfall for a given period with the Timex TX7002 rain gauge/sprinkler gauge combo. The package starts with a single 5-inch rain gauge, which lets you calculate the average rainfall during a single shower, a day, a week, or any other interval. It's ideal for amateur meteorologists, gardeners, and other people with a vested interest in precipitation levels. Rounding out the bundle is a 1-inch sprinkler gauge that tells you just how much water you're pumping into your garden or lawn. The sprinkler gauge is a must for people who don't want to waste water but do want to make sure their plants are well hydrated.
Both items are made of molded yellow transparent plastic for durability, and feature easy-to-read numerals printed on the side with ultraviolet fade-resistant inks. And metric users needn't fret, as the gauges feature both inch and centimeter scales. The gauges, which are designed to stick in the ground or mount on a fence post, are backed by a two-year warranty.

The 1" gauges are so fragile that it was all but impossible to insert them deep enough to get a valid measurement. Contact one pebble on the way in and the brittle 02 thin plastic cracks. 2 more were ... Read More

If you want a device that will give you a ballpark estimate of rainfall, this fits the bill. I doubt it is 100% scientifically accurate, but the price is right!

The 5-inch guage appears to work well and is accurate. The 1-inch sprinkler guage appears to fill up with the minimum of water.
